English Channel Watercolour
Living on the South Coast of England affords its luxuries, hopping over to France being one of them, with the price of train travel within the UK ridiculously high its now cheaper to cross the English Channel for a day out than it is to go up to London (although I do live in London now). This photo was taken the first day of my travels around Europe, and shows, I feel, the complete contrast between my post ‘Vietnamese Festival’ which depicts the busyness, vibrancy, and madness of life in Asia against the more subdued English charms of bleak colours, grey skies, white cliffs, and our beautiful rolling hills. England, and the rest of northern Europe, for me, has a watercolour feel.

They are the white cliffs of Dover, this was taken on the boat over from Dover to Calais.

I know i’m still young, and people might think me naive to say this, but finding time for the things you don’t enjoy should be hard, rather than finding time for the things you do enjoy being hard. Go have a journey, make it work.

beautiful, i love the soft quiet mood of the photo. Life is a journey – be courious about where you are and the people in your own neighborhood can be as valuable as a journey to a new place. Although I have to admit I love climbing on a plane or train and going somewhere new.

I totally understand what you said about the contrast between the watercolour tones of England versus the vivid colours of Asia. I’ve described my life in Manila the same way-vivid and flashy, as opposed to my life in Melbourne, all pastels. I didn’t think anyone but me understood. But I suppose I mean that in a figurative sense too.
